Chit Chor is an online party game, so — unlike our offline puzzles — it needs a small account on our server to seat you at a table with friends. This page explains exactly what that account holds, why, and how to delete it.
1. Information We Collect
- Account ID: a random identifier created automatically the first time you open the App (Firebase Authentication, anonymous sign-in). No email or phone number is needed to play.
- Username and voice choice: the unique username you pick (shown to other players and on leaderboards) and whether chat lines are read in a male or female voice.
- Google or Apple account (optional): if you tap "Save with Google" (or "Sign in with Apple" on iPhone), your account is linked so you can restore it on a new phone. We receive the account's email address and basic profile from Google/Apple and use it only to sign you in.
- Game progress: coins, XP, level, games played and won, a history of coin changes (for example "daily bonus" or "friends' room"), the date you last claimed the daily bonus, and the rooms you are seated in so you can rejoin.
- Leaderboards: your username, XP, wins and games on the weekly and all-time boards.
- Room chat: messages you send in a game room (ready-made lines, pointing at a player, or free text in friends' rooms) are shown to the players in that room. To read messages aloud, the text of a line is sent to Google Cloud Text-to-Speech and the resulting audio clip is cached on our server.
- Reports and mutes: if you report a message, a copy of that message and the usernames involved are stored for review. Players you mute are saved to your account.
- Device & diagnostics: Firebase Crashlytics and Google Analytics for Firebase collect crash details, device model, OS and app version, and simple events (such as game started, game finished, sign-in method). They do not include your chat or username.
- On your phone only: settings such as sound, vibration, menu language and chat voice are stored locally on your device.
The App does not use your location, contacts, camera, microphone or photos, and shows no ads.
2. How We Use Information
- To run online rooms: seating, dealing chits, scoring, pausing for players who drop out, and rejoining.
- To keep your coins, level and leaderboard rank, and to let you restore them on a new phone.
- To deliver room chat and read it aloud, and to keep chat safe (rude-word filtering, rate limits, reports and mutes).
- To diagnose crashes and understand which modes are played, so we can improve the game.
- To respond to your support requests.
3. Coins
Coins are an in-game currency only. They are earned by playing and from the daily bonus, and are spent to start a friends' room. Coins cannot be cashed out, transferred to other players, or exchanged for money or prizes. If coin packs are offered in future, they will be sold through Google Play, and we will record the purchase (order ID, product, time) to credit your coins.
4. Service Providers & Sharing
We do not sell your personal information or share it with advertisers. Data is processed by Google as our service provider: Firebase Authentication, Realtime Database (Singapore region), Cloud Functions (Mumbai region), Crashlytics, Analytics and Cloud Text-to-Speech, under Google's privacy policy. Other players see your username, voice, game moves and the chat you send in their room.
5. Data Retention
- Account, progress and coin history: until you delete your account.
- Game rooms and their chat: deleted automatically about 3 hours after the room was last used.
- Weekly leaderboards: 8 weeks. All-time leaderboard: until you delete your account.
- Message reports: until reviewed, at most 90 days.
- Cached voice clips (no personal data attached): removed after 30 days without use.
- Crash reports and analytics: as set by Firebase (90 days for Crashlytics; analytics data retention is 2 months).
6. Deleting Your Account
In the App: Home → Settings (⚙) → Delete my account. This immediately deletes your username, coins, XP, coin history, leaderboard rows, mutes, reports you made, and your sign-in (including any Google/Apple link). You can also ask us by email — see Delete your Chit Chor account.
7. Children's Privacy
Chit Chor is a general-audience game and is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). Free-text chat is limited to private rooms with friends, rude words are filtered, and any message can be reported or muted. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your location (for example, under India's DPDP Act, the GDPR or the CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Contact us using the details below.
9. Security
Data travels over HTTPS, database rules let each player read only their own account and the rooms they are seated in, and only our server can change game state, coins and leaderboards. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes are posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date.
